Congress on the HAZELNUT and the Italian Agro-Food Chain

This morning 10th March in Bologna an expert congress has taken place on the Hazelnut as a model for the Italian agriculture, organized by New Business Media in collaboration with Edagricole (leading agricultural online magazine), based on the following general elements:


“The hazelnut is appreciated and beneficial for both consumer health and economy of producers. The hazelnut is one of the few expanding agricultural activities. Specific projects aim for a further increase by 20 thousand hectares in the next 5 years, also thanks to aids for new technology and opening to new non-traditional areas.  

Further a spotlight on economic facts, production techniques and a face to face of food chain representatives.”

Pino Calcagni has participated as key speaker for the food industry, representing not only of the Besana Group but also the INC (International Nut and Dried Fruit Council Foundation). Part of his speech were a wide picture of the nut sector in general, especially on productions and consumption, and above all an exciting and encouraging projection over the next 25 years.


Other speakers were economic experts and high level university representatives.


The Congress was very well attended, with more than 300 very interested participants who filled the Aula Magna of the Agricultural University of Bologna.
