General information

The Goji berry ( Lycium bararum L.) is a brightly coloured berry found in the Ningsha province in China. It is also called It is also known as Chinese Wolfberry, Red Medlar, Bocksdorn, Cambronera, Duke of Argyll's Tea Tree, Matrimony Vine. It is also another name for the western snowberry, Symphoricarpos occidentalis. The berries are cropped in late July and the first shipments of new crop dried berries are around end July. There is no cultivation outside Ningsha. The annual production is in the region of 30,000 tonnes, 90% of which is consumed in China.

Health Benefits

In China, the Goji berry is used as a medicinal and health food product, it has always been associated with longevity , sexual performance and virility and good health. It contains over 19 amino acids (6 times higher than bee pollen), 21 trace minerals, more beta carotene than carrots and an amazing 500 times more vitamin C than oranges. It is also packed with vitamin B1, B6 and E. Goji berries are used to treat or prevent visual degeneration, such as cataracts, retinopathy, or macular degeneration. Everyone can take goji on daily basis for general health.
